Chapter 15

After a night of nonstop sex, Ari decided to make Shawn breakfast … well, brunch, because it was well after 2:00 in the afternoon when she was finally able to open her eyes. Shawn was still knocked out. The sun was up and the birds were chirping when they finally fell asleep.

Ari tried her best to make it to the bathroom on her wobbly legs. They felt like they would give out at any minute; she had to use the wall for support. Hoping the steam and water from a nice hot shower would help soothe her aching legs, Ari decided to jump in.

As the water massaged her muscles, she thought about her night. Shawn had put her in positions and made her feel ways that she didn’t think existed. Sex with June had never felt that good.

“Hey, bae!” Shawn said as he came into the bathroom.

He was trying to wait for Ari to finish her shower, but he couldn’t hold his piss any longer.

“You been in the shower for damn near three hours. A nigga got to pee.”

“Three hours, though?” Ari asked.

“I said damn near, bighead.”

“Well, if you didn’t have my legs in twenty different positions like I’m in gymnastics or something, I wouldn’t have to be in here for so long.”

“You wasn’t saying none of that while I was doing those different positions, so cut the bullshit. Get your dirty butt out of the shower. Matter of fact, I’m getting in so we can go have breakfast, well lunch, or something.”

I guess me cooking is out of the question, Ari said to herself.

Two hours and two rounds later, they finally made their way out the door. Ari was on a cloud so high, she felt like she was untouchable. Shawn had helped ease her mind in more ways than one, and she was loving every minute of it. For a brief moment, she forgot her sister was missing.

Just thinking about Asia brought her down from her cloud and back to reality. Shawn noticed how Ari’s mood changed while they were at Ihop having a late breakfast.

“What u thinking about?” Shawn asked while stuffing his mouth with eggs.

Ari was trying to decide if she was ready to let Shawn in on her family problems. Fuck it, he’s gonna find out sooner or later, she decided.

“I just realized I’m enjoying your company so much, I forgot my damn sister been M.I.A. for the past week.”

Shawn looked at her in confusion. “What you mean M. I. A.?”

Ari explained everything to him, and it was a relief to vent and get it all out. Besides Shannie and Des, Asia was the only family Ari had left. Ari didn’t know how or what she would do with herself if something happened to Asia.

“I’m pretty sure she good, ma, she probably needs time to figure everything out,” Shawn tried to ease her mind.

“I hope you right,” Ari responded dryly.

“Seriously, if you don’t finish eating your food, I’m gonna eat it for you,” Shawn said.
